How to Place a Burn The Fat
Banner Ad On Your Website
This tutorial will teach you how to install a Burn The Fat banner ad on your affiliate website. Since there are so many different types of websites and web editing formats available, this is just a general walk-through. Naturally, we cannot supply detailed instructions for EVERY single publishing platform - as there are far too many options.
That said, we're making this available to cover the general process and help the wide majority of our affiliates.
Why You Must Host Banner Ads On YOUR Server
The short answer is that our webmaster will not allow us to self-host the banners for you. The reason for this is that our website receives a large amount of traffic as it is, and if we had all of our thousands of affiliates start hosting their banner ads off of our server, then our website would likely slow down, time out, go black, or even crash from the excessive bandwidth required. We'd like to avoid that, for your benefit, and our customers buying experience.
But Why Do Some Clickbank Vendors Provide a Copy and Paste HTML Code to Publish Their Banners?
This is likely the case because those vendors who do self-host their banner ads simply don't have the kind of traffic we do and can justify the extra bandwidth usage. Having been a best-seller for the last decade, and having hundreds of thousands of customers from all over the world, we simply don't have that option available to us. This means you'll have to install the banner ad on your website yourself, and host it somewhere on your server.
Installing a Banner Ad on Your Website Using FTP
If you would like to place a Burn The Fat banner ad on your website, then you'll need to know how to format it so that it displays properly. This quick tutorial will teach you how to do it.
Step 1: Select a banner ad that you'd like to post on your website.
Step 2: Download the banner ad to your local hard drive by right-clicking on the ad and selecting "Save Image As." Do note that some of our banner ads can only be downloaded in a zip file. We offer this because many of our banners come in different sizes and color schemes, and it's easier to group them together in one big directory, rather than have you download each individual file.
Step 3: Once the banner ad is on your computer's hard drive, use an FTP program like FileZilla or WS-FTP Pro to upload the file to somewhere on your website server.
For example, you could place the file in this directory location: http://www.yourwebsite.com/img/image_filename.jpg
Notice above the domain name followed by the "img" directory, and the image filename, which in our example is a jpg file.
Step 4: Once the banner ad image file has been uploaded to your web server, copy the image location to your computers clipboard.
Step 5: Open up your HTML editor or website design software and find the location in the HTML where you'd like to place your banner ad (good spots would be in the header, a sidebar, or the footer). In that location, insert the following code:
<a href="http://yourclickbankid.burnthefat.hop.clickbank.net">
<img src="http://www.yourwebsite.com/img/image_filename.jpg">
</a>
Make sure to a) insert your Clickbank ID in the indicated field, and b) paste the image URL in the proper location after the "img src" tag, between the quotation marks. That HTML code will place the banner ad on your website and will also embed it with your Clickbank ID so that it directs traffic to our sales page.
Step 6: Save the webpage file and re-upload to your server if necessary. Then refresh your webpage to see if the new banner ad appears (it may take a few minutes for it to appear. To see it immediately, try clearing your Internet browser cache.)
How to Install a Banner Ad on Your Wordpress Blog
Step 1) From your wordpress dashboard, select "Media" on the left side navigation, and then click "Add New." This will take you to a page where you can upload files from your computer. So, if you haven't saved the image you'd like to your hard drive, do that first.
Step 2) Click on "Select Files," which will bring up a dialog box asking you to browse for the banner ad file on your computer's hard drive (usually a JPG file). Once you find it, select it, and click the "open" or upload button. It will then display the image you have uploaded along with some other information about it.
Step 3) You'll notice at the very bottom, there is a field which displays the File URL. This is the location on your server where the file was uploaded to, and that's the URL you will need to copy and paste into your wordpress blog's sidebar widget.
Once you have the URL of the banner ad file, you can follow the instructions below...
Assuming you'd like to stick it somewhere in the sidebar, which is one of the best places for it and also one of the easiest, this is what you’ll do next:
Step 4) In wordpress, click on the left-hand navigation bar where it says "Appearance," and then click on the "Widgets" link. That will take you to a page where you can drag and drop a widget and place it in the sidebar of your site.
Step 5) You'll need to drag a "TEXT WIDGET" to the sidebar of your choice.
Step 6) Next, you'll need to insert some HTML code that tells your widget where the image is located on your server.
Here's the code template you'll need:
<a href=http://yourclickbankid.burnthefat.hop.clickbank.net><img
src="http://www.yourwebsite.com/thelocationofyourimage.jpg"></a>
Step 7) Be sure to insert your Clickbank ID (the same as your username) into the field above. Also, you'll need to copy and paste the banner ad's URL location (from your server) into the second field – between the quotes. That's the same URL that you copied and pasted earlier after uploading the image to your server.
Step 8) After that, you just need to click save, and after a little while, the banner ad should show up on your site in the sidebar you placed it in. It should also be linked to our homepage with your affiliate link embedded within to track your sales.
Note: sometimes, it can take a short while before the banner ad displays on your Wordpress blog. If that’s the case, either wait about 30 minutes, or alternatively, clear your blog’s cache and refresh your homepage to see if shows up.
