Randall’s Fat Loss Transformation

Randall Before & AfterThe definition of transformation is a dramatic change in form or appearance. For example, when obese people burn fat in large quantities, they become so transformed, that it’s sometimes difficult to recognize them from their original appearance.

According to Randall Wilkinson, the idea of a transformation for most of us is great; however, we find a certain sense of paralysis that grips us and disables our best efforts.

The discipline needed seems to always be more suited for the other guy, while things like slacking off or totally giving up are more common tendencies.

For Randall Wilkinson, a middle aged guy whose middle gave him a “swollen” look [his words], the Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle Summer Challenge transformed both his looks…and his outlook.

Inspiration from Tom Venuto

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to enter the Burn the Fat Summer Challenge,” said Randall. “I am also thankful to Tom Venuto for being an inspiration to my wife who has followed the program religiously and passed that inspiration on to me.”

“As my wife translated general principles, some by reading Tom Venuto’s book, Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle, and some by discussion, I was inspired to not even consider the ‘duties’ needed to make a transformation. Rather, I took a more philosophical approach and considered the motivation for the transformation.

I am motivated to eat the right way, but I am not motivated to manage the menu or the grocery store. Going to the store and scheduling the right foods is not me!”

A Philosophical Approach to Getting in Shape

Randall learned a lot about himself during the BFFM Summer Challenge and felt that self-awareness was “key” to burning fat and building muscle. “I know I cannot manage the aspects of my diet and my potential is limited. If I am motivated to eat right, but not motivated to shop or create menus, then coming to terms with my weakness includes incorporating a good support group.

A key point for me was realizing how we all need each other,” according to Randall.

“My spare time used to consist of long naps and leisurely dispositions. We considered that discipline was synonymous with work. If you have a good work ethic but do not like the work you are doing, you will not be consistent. I am very consistent with my job, so how could that be? My job is not a place I go to work; it is a passionate part of my life. I would feel lost if I were made to stop.”

Inspiration Tom Venuto Style

Another Key point in Randall’s self-discovery was that as his wife was serving up inspiration Tom Venuto style, he realized that it wasn’t her discipline that aided her in her challenge, it was her passion. Tom Venuto was not lining out a disciplined routine, he was nurturing passion. Randall’s perception was a hindrance, so he removed the hindrance which was his perception.

In other words, Randall did not need to add discipline, he needed to nurture passion.

“I would consider this to be one of the greatest discoveries man could have,” he explained. “Removing hindrances in our inner man enables desires that are in each of us. Addition by subtraction, the depth of what I am saying goes beyond the few examples I gave. Tom Venuto, thank you for nurturing passion in my wife. The inspiration is contagious.

When the topic of my fat loss transformation comes up in casual conversation, you and your book, Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle, are always mentioned.”

BFFM Summer Challenge Results

During the weeks of BFFM Summer Challenge, Randall lost some weight, but found a whole lot more. He shed 10 pounds, including 5.7% of fat loss, and gained 6.8 pounds of lean muscle. Plus, he also found a new passion thanks to his wife’s (and Tom Venuto’s) inspiration.

Randall concludes by saying, “This attitude I have toward enhancing my life is not a chore or duty, it is a love. This challenge has ended but my enthusiasm has just begun!”
