Very Low Calorie Diet = "Skinny Fat Person"
Why Bodybuilders And Fitness Models Eat More
And Are The Leanest People On Earth,
While Low Calorie Dieters Are The Fattest...

Re: The very Low Calorie Diet Paradox

Very Low Calorie Diets can make you fat!

What??? I know it sounds impossible, but this is a scientifically accurate statement - the research on weight loss physiology and the statistics on diet relapse and weight gain bear it out every time. There is a better way to achieve permanent fat loss than low calorie dieting.

But first, let me clarify that seeming paradox: You WILL lose weight (and sometimes FAST), on a very low calorie diet. The trouble is, you will only lose in the beginning. In the long term, you set yourself up hormonally and metabolically to:

(1) Slow down your metabolism (so fat loss is even more difficult the next time)
(2) Hit a fat loss plateau
(3) Regain all the weight
(4) Damage your health due to nutritional deficiency

And The Worst Low Calorie Diet Side Effect Of All...

(5) The very low calorie diet cannibalizes your own muscle tissue, while your body goes into starvation mode to protect the last 10-15 lbs of energy reserves (stored fat tissue).

At the end, for all your trouble, this often leaves you a 'SKINNY FAT PERSON', which I define as someone with a low body weight and low level of lean body mass who still has a relatively high body fat percentage. Here's how this all works:

To get rid of body fat, you have to consume fewer calories than you burn. However, the fatal flaw in most popular diet programs is that the calorie deficit is too aggressive or too extreme and the low calorie diet is not accompanied by the right type of exercise training (which is what tells your body to keep the lean muscle and helps you avoid being a "skinny fat person").

Have you ever been told that to get a lean body you had to eat 1200 calories a day or 900 calories a day or even less? Did you ever just get FED UP with no results and say to yourself, "That's it, I'm hardly going to eat ANYthing," because you were desperate to lose the weight as fast as possible?

Well, I've got news for you. That will work in the beginning, because there's a HUGE calorie deficit at first, but theres also a HUGE catch 22:

The Strange (And Dangerous) Low Calorie Diet Paradox

When you go on a very low calorie diet, eventually YOUR BODY ADAPTS.

It's kind of like the BORG in Star Trek, where a phaser weapon works against the alien BORG creatures once, but then they adapt, and soon the same phaser blast no longer does anything.

Well, very low calorie diets are kind of like that, aren't they?

You "fire" a low calorie diet at your body and it zaps off some weight in the begining. But then your body figures out what's going on. Your body doesn't care that you want to look good in a swimsuit; your body thinks you're under attack! Your body thinks you're about to starve to death!

When you fire something extreme at your body (like hardly eating), your metabolic rate slows down in order to protect you. This "defense mechanism" is often called, "the starvation mode."

Disastrous Effects Of The Starvation Mode (Avoid This At All Costs)

When you go into starvation mode, your fat burning hormones crash, your fat cells release less of the "anti-starvation hormone" leptin, your body releases fewer fat-releasing and fat-burning enzymes such as hormone sensitive lipase and lipoprotein lipase, you lose lean body mass, your hypothalamus in your brain turns up the appetite switch and your body fiercely defends for survival by holding on to the last 10 pounds or so of fat with all its might!

Any program that's extremely low in calories may work in the short term, but the "honeymoon" never lasts for long.

In the long run, very low calorie diets can actually make you fatter. Eventually, they lead to binge eating and weight re-gain and you end up with less muscle and a slower metabolism than when you started.

Does any of this sound familiar? If so, aren't you finally ready for something else?

The TRUTH About Permanent Fat Loss

you DON'T have to starve yourself on very low calorie diets to get a lean body. You can eat more and burn more fat. In fact, That IS "THE SECRET." Eat more, burn more. Burn The Fat, don't starve the fat. Starvation Dieting is the WORST way to lose body fat!

Proper nutrition (taking in plenty of food to feed the muscle), combined with strength training (to build the muscle), and cardio training (to burn the fat) is the BEST way to lose body fat and keep it off, BAR NONE.

Nutrition + Cardio + Weight training. NOT one or the other. It's the synergy from the combination that works the fat-burning magic. This secret has been known by fitness models and bodybuilders for decades. Using these techniques and methods, bodybuilders have learned how to bypass the starvation mode. They HAVE TO, or they would never get their body fat low enough to make it into "on-stage" or "photo shoot" competition condition with all their muscle intact.

Here's the best part: using this method, you can actually eat a LOT more! Granted, this must be carefully-chosen, healthy, fat-burning foods at least 90% of the time ("off meals" and "cheat days" are certainly allowed), but this is in NO WAY a very low calorie diet. Research this subject for yourself and you will find that almost all bodybuilders eat 6 times per day! How do they eat so much and still get so lean???

A Powerful Fat Loss System Created BY a Bodybuilder,
But Not Just FOR bodybuilders

Now, Do NOT 'tune out' at this point if you are saying to yourself, "I'm not a bodybuilder," because these "bodybuilder diet" methods have been extracted OUT of the bodybuilding world and are now being used in "the real world" by all types of regular people - men and women - doctors, lawyers, schoolteachers, students, housewives, accountants, pilots, truck drivers - just about anyone who is in good health who simply wants to get off the low calorie diet roller coaster and start a new lean lifestyle.
